Collier County has a new superintendent, the 10th in its history. The appointment of Amy Patterson as the first woman to hold the position was announced June 16 at a county commission meeting in Naples.

Patterson, who was the acting county manager, was selected from five finalists.

She is from Naples, born at Naples Community Hospital, and Patterson graduated from St. John Neumann Catholic High School in Naples.
