KINGSTON, Jamaica, (JIS) – Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) will host a high-level investment conference from November 29-30, to highlight local investment and business opportunities.
The conference, dubbed ‘Invest Jamaica’, is scheduled for the Montego Bay Convention Center under the theme: ‘Jamaica, the Nearshore Delivery Hub of the Caribbean’.
The event will feature up to 40 industry leaders speaking on various topics and face-to-face meetings with 400 specially invited investors and senior executives from around the world.
Speaking at the JIS ‘Think Tank’ on Thursday, November 10, JAMPRO Vice President of Marketing Gabriel Heron said the conference evolved from a discussion with the Minister of Finance and Public Public, Dr. Nigel Clarke, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB representatives), in December 2021.
He said Dr Clarke had expressed strong interest in collaborating with the IDB to organize an investment forum to explore Jamaica’s business opportunities in 2022.
“The event is truly a high-level platform to enable discussions on the investment opportunities that Jamaica presents, as well as a platform for in-depth discussions to examine the business environment across a range of sectors. “, explained Heron.
He noted that particular attention will be paid to the outsourcing/global services sector as well as the manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics and tourism sectors.
Additionally, Heron said the conference will explore Jamaica’s financial ecosystem and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
He indicated that Jamaica has a very unique competitive advantage, particularly due to its geographical location, which supports the theme of the conference.
Heron added that “it is essential [for us to host the conference now]because it meets our needs and our requirement to increase investments. »
“Over the two days, the conference will include…seven plenaries focusing on the sectors I mentioned earlier. This is where attendees will hear from local and international industry experts, who will provide practical and disruptive solutions to business and investment ecosystems,” said the Vice President.
Site visits will also be organized to allow participants to see the offers of investment projects, particularly in tourism, logistics and SEZs.
The conference will also feature C-Suite, Business-to-Business (B2B), and Business-to-Government (B2G) networking meetings.
C-Suite networking will allow for the exploration of business opportunities and the exchange of strategic perspectives from diverse field experts, while attendees will be exposed to investment opportunities in their specific areas of interest from the sessions. the meeting.
