Union Finance Minister and top BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman, who is on a three-day visit to Telangana, visited a public distribution point at Birkur in Kamareddy district and inquired about the number of beneficiaries registered with the Center.
The top BJP leader is in Telangana in connection with party activities. The BJP has planned a series of visits by the top national leader to Telangana, to deliver a tough fight to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Union Minister Amit Shah and BJP Chairman JP Nadda have visited the state for the past two weeks.
A BJP official said that Nirmala Sitharaman interacted with a few beneficiaries at the ration store and asked the dealer about the stocks. Stating that the Center had been providing rice for free since March 2020 in light of the pandemic, she wondered why the photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not kept at the point of sale.
On the second day of her trip, she addressed representatives of the public, members of the party office, IT and social media volunteers and leaders of Yuva, Mahila, Minority, SC, ST and OBC belonging to the Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency of the party.
She visited a Covid-19 vaccination center at Kotagiri Primary Health Center in Banswada town and interacted with health workers during her visit.
“A pleasant experience (outside my schedule) when students, their teachers and an elderly lady came to greet me. Very touching and inspiring,” the minister said in a tweet during her visit to Telangana.
Earlier she paid respects at a memorial to Telangana struggle martyrs at Koyyagutta Tanda Cross road in Banswada town.
