The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) is holding its SAFA SME Development Conference 2022 today, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., via the Zoom platform
The conference to celebrate the United Nations Day – Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It is organized by the SAFA International Relations Committee and hosted by the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka), with the theme “Supporting Small Businesses in Financial and Cost Management”.
The inaugural welcome session and introductory remarks will be delivered by Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, Chairman of the SAFA International Relations Committee, Past President of SAFA and President of CMA Sri Lanka. The presentation on “Role of SAFA in SME Development” will be given by HM Hennayake Bandara, Chairman of SAFA and Vice Chairman of CMA Sri Lanka.
The keynote presentation on “Developing a Financial Ecosystem for SMEs – Role of the Credit Guarantee Institution” will be given by Takuya Hoshino, Financial Sector Specialist, Asian Development Bank and Guest of Honor at the presentation on “The Importance of UN MSME Day” will be delivered by Simrin Singh, ILO Country Director representing Sri Lanka and Maldives. The vote of thanks will be pronounced by CA. Nihar N. Jambusaria, Vice President of SAFA.
The second technical session will be moderated by Ruchira Perera, board member of CMA Sri Lanka. Presentations will be made by Wickrama Narayana, Deputy Managing Director of People’s Bank Sri Lanka on “The Role of the Banking Sector in Restructuring and Rehabilitation of SMEs”, Dr. Chamara Bandara, CEO of Corporate Doctors (Pvt.) Ltd and Member of CMA. Sri Lanka COVID-19 SME Development Committee, on “Cash Flow and Working Capital Management for SMEs” and CA. Prakash Sharma, Chairman of the SAFA SMP Committee on “The Role of SMPs in Supporting the SME Sector”. The session will conclude with a question and answer session.
The Technical Session 3 Roundtable will be moderated by Chaaminda Kumarasiri, Chairperson/Senior Consultant of HCP Consulting (Pvt.) Ltd and Member of the COVID-19 SME Development Committee of CMA Sri Lanka. Representatives of management accounting and SAFA accredited bodies from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives will share their experience on “South Asian Experiences in SME Development”. The session will also feature a Q&A session.
The vote of thanks will be delivered by the Permanent Secretary of SAFA, CA, Dr. Jai Kumar Batra.
