World Travel Awards 2022: PrideInn and Movenpick crowned best conference and business hotels in Kenya

  • PrideInn Hotel and Movenpick emerged winners in the conference and business categories, respectively
  • The hotels were in competition with renowned hotels, including Nairobi Seran Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotels and Sarova Panafric

Kenyan hotels and resorts have continued to shine in Africa amid the recovery of the tourism sector from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Global Travel Rewards recognized various hotels and resorts among the winners of the 2022 event.

Main conference/business hotels in Kenya

PrideInn Beach Resort, Spa and Movenpick Hotel and Residences won Kenya’s leading conference and business awards at the Saturday 15th October event.

The conference hotel category attracted nominees including Fairmont The Norfolk, Movenpick Hotel & Residences, Nairobi Seran Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotels and Villa Rosa Kempinski.

In the Business CategoryMovenpick took on Fairmont The Norfolk, Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Radisson Blu and Sarova Panafric.

Nairobi City Award

The award also recognized Nairobi as the top travel destination in Africa for two consecutive years, beating other cities.

Knight Frank, a real estate company, CEO Mark Dunford, explained that Nairobi is the first real estate market to mature in Africa.

Dunford revealed that it is easy to do business in the capital due to increased security and developed social amenities.

“When foreign business experts look for where to invest, infrastructure helps. I think the ease of doing business and security is better in Nairobi since COVID-19 hit.

“There is also the availability of quality of life. The city has many developed social amenities – shopping malls, compared to neighboring cities like Addis Ababa, Dar es Salaam, etc.,” Dunford said in an interview. with

Kenya Airways (KQ) also scooped awards at the event, maintaining its Pride of Africa status for two consecutive years.

The national carrier won the African Leading Arline in 2022, beating the likes of South African Airlines.

KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka said the carrier is committed to delivering efficient, world-class services to its customers.

The 2022 World Travel Awards nominated seven African airlines including KQ, Ethiopian Airlines, RwandAir and others.
